Official impacts and advice
- Forecast rainfall amounts of approximately 2 to 4 inches are possible over portions of Belize during the next four days.
- Periods of locally heavy rainfall could produce rapid runoff, localized flash flooding, flooding of low-lying and flood-prone areas, and rising river levels.
- Although several rivers are currently at normal or below-normal levels, additional rainfall may cause rapid rises in smaller streams and tributaries, while larger river systems may respond more gradually as rainfall accumulates.
- Residents in low-lying, flood-prone and riverside communities are advised to remain alert and closely monitor official weather and flood updates as conditions may change rapidly.
- During periods of heavy rainfall, exercise caution near rivers, streams, low-level crossings and other flood-prone areas, and do not attempt to cross flooded roads or waterways.
- Particular attention should be given to rivers that are already elevated or approaching bankfull levels.
- RESIDENTS ARE ADVISED TO STAY INFORMED WITH OFFICIAL UPDATES.
