Accommodations
Belize accommodations compared: beachfront resorts, all-inclusives, jungle lodges & budget hotels in San Pedro, Caye Caulker, Placencia & San Ignacio, with picks by zone.
Things to Do
Things to do in Belize you can actually book: snorkeling at Hol Chan, the ATM Cave, Maya ruins, ziplining, fishing, and food tours, all via Viator.
Getting Around
Getting around Belize made simple: water taxi schedules to the cayes, Tropic Air domestic flights, NBC bus timetables, BZE airport transfers, shuttles, and rental cars.

Ten days gives you room for both island reef time and a mainland beach base without turning the trip into constant transit.
Relaxed pace · 10 days
Belize's Barrier Reef, 185 miles long and part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site, creates a protected corridor of calm, warm, clear water between the cayes and the open Caribbean. San Pedro, Caye Caulker, and Placencia each offer a completely different island experience.
Phase 01
Days 1 to 3
Three days on Belize's largest island. Day 1: arrive and settle in. Day 2: Hol Chan Marine Reserve and Shark Ray Alley, the benchmark reef experience in northern Belize. Day 3: golf cart exploration of the island's north (mangrove lagoons, boutique resorts) and south (Marco Gonzalez Maya site).
Day 4
Water taxi south to Caye Caulker. Swim at The Split, rent bikes to cross the island north-to-south, and book an afternoon manatee snorkel at Swallow Caye Wildlife Sanctuary.
The second-largest coral reef system in the world, and Belize has it entirely to itself.
Browse island regionsPhase 02
Day 5
Full day on the reef from Caye Caulker. The combination of snorkeling, windsurfing (steady trade winds, protected inside reef), and a sunset sailing trip makes for an excellent full day.
Day 6
Short domestic flight from San Pedro (via Belize City Municipal Airport) to Placencia on the 17-mile peninsula. Placencia has Belize's finest mainland beaches, 19 miles of white sand, and the highest density of restaurants in the country. Evening along the seafront.
Day 7
Full beach day in Placencia. The village end of the peninsula gives you the easiest mix of beach time, restaurants, and walkable evenings. If you are curious about Hopkins, this is the better trip slot for a side visit rather than another hotel move.
Day 8
March to June full moon: boat tour to Gladden Spit and Silk Cayes Marine Reserve for whale shark encounters, these aggregations are among the largest in the world during snapper spawning. Other months: day trip to Tobacco Caye (snorkel right off the beach on the reef) or Glover's Reef, a pristine UNESCO marine reserve.
Phase 03
Day 9
Boat to Monkey River village for howler monkeys, crocodiles, and manatees in the river delta. Or: an introduction to Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary and the jaguar reserve for a half-day nature experience.
Day 10
Domestic flight from Placencia to Belize City for your international connection.
Insider tip
Placencia versus Hopkins is one of the most repeated Belize beach questions. This route uses Placencia as the main mainland base because it is simpler for dining, transfers, and reef days, while Hopkins works better as a day trip or a culture add-on than a second hotel stop on a beach-focused itinerary.
