Accommodations
Belize accommodations compared: beachfront resorts, all-inclusives, jungle lodges & budget hotels in San Pedro, Caye Caulker, Placencia & San Ignacio, with picks by zone.
Things to Do
Things to do in Belize you can actually book: snorkeling at Hol Chan, the ATM Cave, Maya ruins, ziplining, fishing, and food tours, all via Viator.
Getting Around
Getting around Belize made simple: water taxi schedules to the cayes, Tropic Air domestic flights, NBC bus timetables, BZE airport transfers, shuttles, and rental cars.

Ten family days in Belize are strongest when you keep the trip to two bases and let each one do a different job.
Easy pace · 10 days
Belize is one of the most manageable family destinations in the Americas. Short internal distances, English as the official language, and activities that work for multiple age groups, cave tubing, the Belize Zoo, and Caye Caulker's calm lagoon, make logistics genuinely easy.
Phase 01
Day 1
Arrive, stop at the Belize Zoo, and continue to San Ignacio for the first base. This keeps the trip moving in one direction and avoids an extra hotel night near Belize City.
Day 2
Use a lighter inland day to settle into town, visit Cahal Pech, and leave some room for a market stop, a river walk, or an early night. Families usually enjoy Belize more when the first two days are not both full tours.
Day 3
Xunantunich is one of the easiest Maya sites to fit into a family Belize trip. The ferry crossing is memorable, the site feels substantial without being overwhelming, and the day does not demand the same physical effort as ATM Cave.
Cave floats, rescued jaguars, and the calmest water in the Caribbean.

Day 4
Cave tubing is the inland family favorite because it feels adventurous without the same swim and scramble demands as ATM Cave. Keep the rest of the day easy after the tour.
Day 5
Make the move to San Pedro and treat this as a transition day. Once you arrive, the next block of the trip gets easier because dining, tours, golf carts, and family logistics are all concentrated in one place.
Day 6
Use the first full island day for the main reef outing. Hol Chan is one of the most repeated family trip questions for a reason: it gives a big Belize reef experience without an extreme transfer day.
Day 7
Leave one full day open for pool time, beach time, golf-cart exploring, or a simpler outing. This flexibility is what helps a 10-day family trip stay fun instead of becoming a checklist.
Day 8
Choose a lower-friction day based on the family's energy: a second snorkel, a beach club, Secret Beach at an off-peak hour, or a quiet resort day instead of another full itinerary push.
Phase 03
Day 9
Keep one final island day light so weather, mood, or a missed tour does not throw the whole trip off. This kind of buffer shows up again and again in successful Belize family planning.
Day 10
Return to PGIA by domestic flight or water taxi connection. Because the route stays with two main bases, departure day is easier to manage than a multi-stop family loop.
Insider tip
San Pedro and Caye Caulker both come up often in family planning, but they serve different needs. This version uses San Pedro because the extra dining options, easier tour logistics, and stronger family infrastructure offset the busier feel when you have more days to settle in.
Match your accommodation and transport to the route before you arrive.
